Katherine Suazo, Software Engineer

Katherine Suazo is a first generation Honduran-American who is the first in her family to receive a degree in computer science at CUNY Lehman College. During college, while finishing her senior year, she participated in a web development bootcamp, got an internship where she was the only female engineer recruited and had a small web development business building websites for small businesses across Manhattan. After graduation, she was selected to join the Microsoft LEAP program where she had the chance to work with the Word Team at Microsoft's headquarters. An interesting fact about Katherine is that she doesn't know how to ride a bike, doesn't know how to swim, nor does she know how to drive but she flew a plane for the first time in 2019. Her interests include escape rooms, walking long distances around NYC (more than 6 miles), and music. So enamored by music that she did a research project on musical development throughout the 20th Century where she analyzed the change in musical elements and graphed her findings using Python. She is in hopes of getting her PhD degree in computational musicology to become a researcher in musical data. She's passionate to work with Health in Her HUE and to create a powerful platform for black women across the globe!
